I am a cultural historian of modern science, with a longstanding interest in the sociology and politics of expertise. My work focuses on the history of the social and behavioral sciences, specifically, the systematic study of individual and group differences and the methods developed to measure and compare them. I am especially interested in how quantitative techniques like self-report questionnaires, rating scales, and psychological testing became widely circulated and came to underwrite public reasoning and institutional decision-making in the second half of the 20th century.

I received my Ph.D. in History of Science from Harvard in 2016. In addition to my professional training in history and philosophy of science, I have extensive background and teaching experience in European intellectual history, social theory, and gender & sexuality studies.

I love working with students, which I currently do in the RKJ Integrated Studies Program at Penn. I previously taught at the University of Chicago, where I spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher and instructor in the now shuttered Institute on the Formation of Knowledge (IFK), as well as at several universities in Israel. I live in West Philadelphia with my partner and 6 years old kid.
